Samantha's Bullying Post

A few weeks ago at recognition day, my group made a video about bullying since it is becoming a wide-spread issue across our school and across the nation. I've decided to do a little follow-up on the bullying topic.

In the video, I brought up bullycide, but never went in depth about it. When researching the topic for the video, we watched many videos about kids who have committed suicide because of the hardships they faced with bullying. Hearing their parents and their schoolmates talk about the bullied child really helped us see how big of an issue bullying can be. We even ended up in tears at a few of the videos. These kids were sometimes as young as 11 years old and they all had the rest of their lives that was cut short because they were being bullied at school!! THIS IS NOT OKAY!

Some of the other Seniors and I went to talk to 7th graders about bullying, and I feel that it really helped them to see that they are not alone, help is there for them if they need it. Mrs. Steen and ANY other teacher or trusted adult are more than willing to help a child being bullied. We asked the 7th grade if they would take a pledge and say that "THE BULLYING STOPS WITH ME!"

Will you take the pledge?
